The Communications &; Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Director and all staff to lead
the public relations and marketing efforts to increase IPCNY’s attendance, media presence, and
external profile. Working with a dynamic small staff in an open office environment connected to an
exhibition space, the applicant must be both a self-starter and a team player. This is an exciting
opportunity for a talented candidate with the appropriate background, skills, and ambition to
increase the institution’s presence, act as an external ambassador, and anticipate the needs of a
growing institution. Job responsibilities may evolve over time with the potential for growth.
Job functions include:
- Evaluating, upgrading, and administering IPCNY’s online and print platforms, including its
website content, social media presence, and marketing materials;
- Building effective relationships with the press, managing media contacts, proposing press
events, and drafting and distributing press releases;
- Developing and distributing marketing and press materials for IPCNY’s annual Spring
Benefit Dinner;
- Overseeing purchase and placements of all advertisements and evaluating effectiveness;
- Applying to and managing IPCNY’s presence at art fairs;
- Seeking new opportunities for IPCNY’s visibility in the print and art worlds and in media
outlets;
- Marketing the sale of IPCNY’s benefit prints;
- Promoting and administering IPCNY’s touring exhibitions, and special projects, benefit
sales, and events such as PRINTFEST and Published by the Artist;
- Coordinating with staff on Membership and Development activities.
IPCNY (International Print Center New York) is New York’s only non-profit arts institution
dedicated to the innovative presentation of printed art, by emerging and established, national and
international artists. The center is a vibrant hub and exhibition space in Chelsea with an artist-
centered approach through its New Prints series and scholarly exhibitions that engage the medium in
all its varied formats.
Job requirements include: Bachelor’s degree (MA preferred) in communications, marketing, arts
administration, art history, or related field. At least 2-3 years of professional experience. Knowledge
of the print field a plus. Excellent people skills, superb written and oral communications skills,
strong organizational skills, and detail oriented. A proactive approach and the ability to work
independently, set priorities, follow through, balance multiple tasks, and meet multiple deadlines. A
team-orientated attitude essential; supervises an intern. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially
Excel, and basic familiarity with creative software, including WordPress, Photoshop, InDesign, and
email marketing software. Experience behind camera and editing video preferred. Attendance at
IPCNY events and art world events, some in the evenings, required.
