Graduate Curatorial Internship, PAID (9-month position): September 2022-June 2023

The Norton Simon Museum offers graduate students the opportunity to work with curators and collections staff on a range of exhibition, research and object-oriented projects. This nine-month, paid internship is centered on the Museum’s outstanding art collection, and presents a valuable opportunity to gain museum experience. Please note that during the 2022-2023 academic year the internship may be conducted remotely, depending on health and safety guidelines in the city of Pasadena.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Assisting curators and registrars with temporary exhibitions and permanent collection displays
Contributing to digital projects
Conducting research on the collections*
Responding to public inquiries
Contributing to collections management and conservation projects
Writing wall labels, newsletter articles and other didactic materials
Strong research and writing skills are required; reading proficiency in a second language is preferred.
*Possible projects in the 2022-2023 academic year may include working with the archives of the The Blue Four Galka Scheyer Collection, and the Museum's collection of the 20th-century works on paper, especially those related to the Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles.
