Research Assistant, Curatorial
Job Summary
The Getty Research Institute seeks a Research Assistant (part-time, limited term) to work with the Curator of Prints and Drawings. The Research Assistant will assist with a wide range of curatorial work, including collection research and interpretation, collection development, exhibitions, presentations, and publications.
Major Job Responsibilities
• Assists with research on and curatorial care of the GRI’s Prints and Drawings collection and the Getty Trust Art collection
• Provides research and organizational assistance for the development and realization of exhibitions and other collection-based projects
• Assists with collection development, from preliminary research to acquisition proposals
• May contribute to drafting short texts, such as exhibition labels or other interpretive material
• Proofreads, edits, and translates as needed
• Requests images for exhibitions and/or publications; researches and obtains art and image permissions
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field; Master’s degree or ABD preferred
• 0-2 years research experience (education may be considered)
• Working knowledge in at least one foreign European language preferred (German desirable)

• Ability to work under little supervision and in partnership with others
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software suites preferred
