Professor of Printmaking

Warren Wilson College Art Department invites applications for a professor of printmaking. This is a full-time faculty position in an extended contract system, scheduled to begin July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will demonstrate teaching excellence, an interest in varied instructional approaches and will teach the equivalent of six, four credit hour courses per year.

We seek a candidate that possesses a strong technical and conceptual background in printmaking capable of teaching and developing our current undergraduate curriculum in art and craft studies. The ideal candidate will be well versed in a range of environmentally conscious and innovative printmaking processes. The successful candidate will assume a rotating chair position and will be expected to continue to be a practicing, exhibiting artist.

Responsibilities -----------
- Teaching load is 24 credit hours per year.
- Oversight of two studios.
- Curriculum development.
- Collaboration with the art department faculty.
- Service that contributes to the mission of Warren Wilson College.
- Participation in the senior project courses as a primary instructor and/or mentor.
- Advising art majors and/or first year seminar students.
- Committee work in the wider college community.


Required Qualifications -----------
- MFA in printmaking with a strong background in drawing and foundations.
- 3 years prior teaching experience at the college level.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development.


Preferred Qualifications ----------
- Experience in book forms.
- Experience in papermaking.


Interested candidates should submit letter of interest, current CV, one-page artist/creative research statement, sample syllabus, names and contact information of 3 references (letters will be requested at a later date for short-listed candidates) and a URL for the portfolio to Warren Wilson College Human Resources. The portfolio should include 20 images of current work and 20 images of past student work. Please provide the title, medium, dimensions and date for artist works. Student work should be labeled with course, assignment, medium, dimensions and date. Electronic application is required.
