Research/Current Projects I am working on honoring matriarchal structures in India. I am using natural dyes to move into textile arts and installations. I also am moving towards performance art.  In my work I am trying to reconnect with the matriarchal structure of my mother's family in India. My mother's family owned and operated a community collective textile "factory" for hundreds of years.  This culture has since disintegrated and the idea of communal living has been altered by globalization and the spread of western ideals in recent times. My family's ancestral home- which housed a village- is in disrepair and is being sold as a heritage site. I am also discussing male patriarchy and the abuse of women in Indian society that is perpetuated by ignorance on my fathers side. I am interested in  PTSD, and inter generational trauma. These narratives are opposites, but are part of my relationship to trauma and hope as a second generation Indian American woman.
