Degree BA in Philosophy
Freie Universität Berlin
Second Degree MA in Art History
Technische Universität Berlin
Professional Affiliation PhD candidate, Technische Universität Berlin
Research/Current Projects As a PhD candidate, I'm preparing a single-process-study on counterproofs. Although counterproofs have been made since the beginning of printmaking, only a few printmakers produced them systematically for sale. Following on from Marie-Christine Seigneurs first survey of the subject (2004), I'm investigating the technical (facture/art-technological sources), aesthetic (use), and economic (valuation) aspects of the phenomenon. A monograph on counterproofs will not only shed light on a sometimes marginalised group of prints, but will also contribute to themes of general interest in the study of printmaking, such as the lateral reversal of images and the variation of the multiple.
