Research/Current Projects	I'm a historian of early modern art and science, with a particular interest in image-making practices and the role of artists in the generation and dissemination of knowledge. I'm currently working on the Flemish woodcut artist Christoffel Jegher, in particular a group of woodblocks preserved at the Museum Plantin Moretus used to illustrate the treatise on natural history Historia naturae, maxime peregrinae (Antwerp, 1635) by the Spanish Jesuit scholar Juan Eusebio Nieremberg. I'm also interested in other works by Jegher, including his collaboration with Rubens and his work for Balthasar Moretus and the Plantin Press. Other research interests include the visual culture of early modern natural history (e.g. the representation of the bird of paradise and the passion flower) and the intersections of art and science in Spanish Baroque culture.
