KADS New York Presents at 2016 New York Satellite Print Fair

KADS New York is pleased to announce our inaugural presentation at The 2016 New York Satellite Print Fair during New York Print Week in November. Our exquisite selection of fine art prints by renowned and emerging artists will offer print connoisseurs an opportunity to explore a range of traditional prints and digital prints.

Our presentation includes intaglio prints by Jiri Anderle (b. 1936, Czech), with highlights such as Dialogue with Myself (1976) and Girl With a Pearl Necklace, After Vermeer (1981). Sought-after for his explorations of the elementary themes of human existence, Anderle’s prints juxtapose the real and the fantastic, logic and absurd, beauty and hideousness, good and evil, in haunting imagery capable to touch our soul. In 1980, the American art magazine Art News declared Anderle’s Cruel Game for a Man (1975) the most important print of the 1970s.

The fantasy world unfolds in full force in variety of forms in the featured etchings by Dusan Kallay (b.1948), Kamila Stanclova (b. 1945) and Katarina Vavrova (b. 1964). We will present such treasures as Dream of John the Watchmaker (1983) and Encounter of Labyrinths (1998) by Dusan Kallay—the recipient of the Hans Christian Andersen Award (1988). In 2015, the Slovak edition of Alice in Wonderland with Kallay’s illustrations received the Grand Prize Alice150 awarded in New York for the best illustrated edition of Lewis Carroll’s book.

Other highlights of our presentation include an iconic color etching The Old Moving House (1982) by Kamila Stanclova; exquisitely delicate hand-colored etchings that evoke a sense of quietude and human pathos by Katarina Vavrova; monumental mezzotints revealing grand forms of flowers floating on velvety black background by Dalibor Smutny (b. 1964); a recent series of digital prints that explore the phenomenon of graphemes by visual poet and letterist Eduard Ovcacek (b. 1933); and a series of etchings Chez Maman by Katerina Kyselica.
