Junior Specialist, Prints Department

The Junior Specialist will work closely with the Director of Prints & Multiples and will ensure that the department runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare estimates and oversee the Sell portal and Artsy valuations
• Prepare proposals and track potential consignments using One Drive Excel spreadsheets
• Inform Specialist and Administrator of any property still outstanding
• Review property as it comes in for auction, examining and making report of condition
• Arrange where the property is to be scanned and stored; communicate with specialist any condition concerns; contact consignor about any changes to estimates and/or reserves
• Catalogue incoming property and enter consignment details into database, provide research as needed
• Arrange for all photography as needed, keeping track of what needs to be shot, and bringing works to photography
• Frame with temporary frames any works that are needed for preview; Inform Specialist of works that will require frames; Find and procure any frames/art supplies needed for preview
• Assist Specialist where needed with Catalog Design, Layout and Proofing
• Inform Specialist of all photography deadlines; catalog production issues; catalog delivery
• Work with Specialist and/or Operations Manager as needed on Preview layout, send condition reports as needed; assist administrator with pre-sale registration problems if work is not being completed due to volume of requests
• Be available and work during previews to troubleshoot and advise clients
• Provide phone bidding and clerking assistance during sales
• Review Post-Sale offer list for potential aftersales
• Supervise Administrator to review the settlement sheet if needed and provide troubleshooting if Finance/Specialist needs to be involved
• Review unsold list with Specialist for future sales
• Ensure the webpage carousel is updated with the most recent sales information and lots
• Provide content to Marketing for the website, Instagram, Facebook, etc., on lots both sold and upcoming; liaise with Press on deadlines, keeping specialists notified of any deadlines, and marketing opportunities
• Be available to travel as needed following all applicable advisories and guidelines
• From time-to-time additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned by the Specialist

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Art History, Fine Art or relevant field of study
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in similar position with strong emphasis on Administration and client interaction, including experience working in an auction, gallery or museum setting
• Proficiency in Outlook based programs, digital photography and database systems
• Proactive problem solver, great team-oriented collaborator and responsive communicator
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high volume department
• Passion and knowledge of prints is preferred
