Graphic Arts Curator

The Kurpfälzische Museum of Heidelberg is a multi-purpose house and is characterized by its extensive holdings in the fields of painting, graphics, archeology, arts and crafts and urban history.

In the Department of Painting / Graphics / Library of the Kurpfälzisches Museum is at the earliest possible date, a position as Graphic curator / graphic curator to occupy with 19.5 hours per week. Employment is initially limited to one year. In the event of probation, permanent employment is provided for. Payment is made according to the fee group 12 TVöD-V.

Responsibilities ---
- Support, development, exploration and expansion of the holdings of the graphic collection of around 20,000 drawings, prints, watercolors and other works on paper from the 15th to the 21st century
- Planning and realization of special and studio exhibitions as well as support of the department head and other departments in the conception and realization of special exhibitions
- Development and publication of scientific and other publications
- Processing of inquiries and support of visitors and visiting scholars
- Examination of loan requests
- Communicating the content and meaning of the graphic collection to a broad public and contributing to the public relations work of the Kurpfälzisches Museum
- Interdepartmental coordination and supervision of the computer-assisted inventory of art historical holdings of the Kurpfälzisches - Museum using the software FAUST including tasks of the administrator

Qualifications ----
- A university degree in art history completed with a bachelor's degree and several years of professional experience or with a master's / master's degree
- Intensive professional examination of an art-historical topic in the context of a bachelor thesis, master thesis, master's thesis or doctorate
- Professional specialization in graphics, if possible in one of the collection areas of the Kurpfälzisches Museum
- Comprehensive knowledge of the various drawing and printing techniques used from the late Middle Ages to the present day, as well as the conservation requirements of graphic sheets
- Professional experience in the museum and experience in the manifold tasks of a graphic curator / graphic curator, are advantageous experiences in the support of a museum graphic collection
- Independent structured way of working and high sense of responsibility
- Self-initiative, commitment, willingness to cooperate and teamwork
- Familiarity with MS Office programs, digital image processing and databases, as well as the willingness to familiarize yourself with new systems
- Good command of spoken and written English, good French skills are an advantage
