Global Matrix IV

GLOBAL MATRIX IV is a contemporary review of fine art printmaking in all media from around the world presented as a traveling exhibition by the Purdue University Galleries (West Lafayette, Indiana USA). The exhibit will be presented at the Robert L. Ringel Gallery at Purdue University and the Fountain Gallery in downtown Lafayette from January 9 to February 18 of 2017, after which it is intended to travel through 2018.

GLOBAL MATRIX exhibitions have been presented previously from 2002 – 2004, 2007 – 2008, and 2012 - 2014. To date, the GLOBAL MATRIX exhibits have featured a total of 225 works representing 180 individual artists from 31 countries around the world.

Curators
Work will be selected for the exhibition by: Kathryn Reeves, Professor of Art & Design at Purdue University; Kimberly Vito, Professor of Art & Art History at Wright State University; Sean Caulfield, Centennial Professor of Art & Design at the University of Alberta; and Craig Martin, Director of the Purdue University Galleries. The team has previously collaborated on installments of “Global Matrix” in 2002, 2007, and 2012.

The curators will select works for the exhibition based upon quality of image, concept, and inventiveness of approach, while looking to include a wide representation of geographic origins. The selection will result in an exhibition of approximately 75 - 80 original prints.

No photography or offset photo mechanically reproduced work will be accepted. Entries should not exceed 44 inches in paper dimension. Individuals associated with Purdue University are ineligible.

Awards/Sales
Purchase awards and Awards of Merit will be presented at the discretion of the curators, pending available funding. The Purdue University Galleries are committed to the practice of acquiring new works and building the collection of contemporary printmaking.

Sales will be encouraged. Two previous exhibits were purchased in total for the Purdue Galleries permanent collection with endowment gift funding, and traveling exhibit venues have made numerous purchases of additional proofs. All work will be considered for sale unless otherwise indicated. Purdue Galleries will not take a commission from the purchase of works but the individual traveling exhibit venues may reserve the right to do so.
