Garo Antreasian

Tamarind Institute invites the public to an opening reception for the exhibition, Garo Antreasian: Innovation in Print on Friday September 9 from 5:30 to 7pm. The exhibition will be in the gallery through 2016. This exhibition will present an overview of Garo Antreasian’s innovations as a printmaker. Centering on his Tamarind production, including prints made with Tamarind Lithography Workshop in Los Angeles during its first year, this exhibition explores Antreasian’s contributions to printmaking techniques and standards, his experimentation with commercial materials and methods, and his role as Tamarind’s first technical director. The exhibition will open September 9 with a public reception for the artist. The opening coincides with the beginning of the fall semester and a new class of Tamarind printers. During the run of the exhibition, Tamarind will host a public conversation with Garo Antreasian in the gallery, including a book signing for his recent book, Garo Z. Antreasian: Reflections on Life and Art published by UNM Press. Plans are underway for the artist to return to the workshop once again, to collaborate with Tamarind’s new master printer Valpuri Remling.
