GALLERY MANAGER, TAMARIND INSTITUTE

Under limited supervision, the Gallery Manager oversees and coordinates the business operations of the Tamarind Institute gallery. The scope includes overseeing the smooth operation of the physical gallery and online sales platforms (Artsy, Instagram, and Tamarind website e-commerce activity). The Gallery Manager develops, implements, and evaluates marketing and presentation strategies for new releases, Tamarind editions, and national art fairs. Maintains a rotation of Tamarind prints in the gallery and develops special regional exhibitions in pop-up spaces. Works in consultation with the Director to determine priorities for new releases and participation in art fairs. Maintains a strong working knowledge of Tamarind inventory, publishing projects, and contemporary artists who collaborate with the workshop. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in contemporary art and able to engage audiences around contemporary prints and collecting.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
* Oversee all gallery transactions including, but not limited to, the management and administration of sales records and invoicing; monitor consistent sales pricing in print, web, and online platforms; respond to inquiries regarding print sales; assist gallery visitors.
* Implement marketing initiatives for Tamarind prints and gallery programs. Develop marketing materials, including email campaigns, advertising, collateral for social media, and printed materials.
* Curate and coordinate annual rotation of 3-4 scheduled exhibitions of Tamarind editions.
* Create 4-6 viewing rooms and features annually on Artsy and online IFPDA fair.
* Oversee planning and execution of outside art fairs and pop-up shows, including preparing checklist and wall labels, coordinating framing, packing, and shipping. Participate in the installation and staffing of art fairs and pop-up shows.
* Maintain strong social media presence, focusing on print sales, visibility, and artist profiles.
* Cultivate new collectors and keep updated contact information on existing clients, including individual collectors, museum curators, art consultants, and gallery partners.
* Maintain regular communication with collector base through special offers, advance notice of new releases, and previews of art fairs.
* Participate in the research and selection of artists for publishing projects.
* Represent Tamarind at various community, national, and international events to promote its projects and programs.
* Assist with gallery programs, including artist talks, and public tours.
* Oversee student gallery personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and enforcement of internal procedures and policies.
