Douglass Foundation Internship in Museum Studies

The McNay Art Museum, a museum of modern and contemporary art, is offering a twelve-month internship in curatorial work beginning in the fall of 2021. The goal of the internship is to prepare individuals interested in embarking on a curatorial career by providing significant experience in several areas of specialization, including work with the collection, exhibitions, publications, and programs. We prefer applicants have a master’s degree in art history, art criticism, museum studies, curatorial practice, or a related field; excellent written and oral communication skills; computer proficiency; and research skills. The salary for this twelve-month, full-time internship is $33,092.

The successful candidate will work directly with Lyle W. Williams, the McNay’s Curator of Prints and Drawings, Curator of Modern Art. Lyle received his M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin before studying as a museum fellow with Richard S. Field at the Yale University Art Gallery. He became the first dedicated curator of prints and drawings at the McNay in 1992.
