Documentation Assistant

Last year the Society launched its new Collections Online platform, enabling us to share our unique holdings with audiences from around the world. We are now seeking a part-time Museum Documentation Assistant to play a key role in improving public access to the collection by auditing, documenting, and cataloguing the Society’s c. 3000 18th-19th century printing blocks ready for publishing online.

This role will give the right candidate valuable experience in practical collections care, handling, and storage. Full training will be given, and the project will culminate in an exciting in-house display designed, curated, and installed by the Museum Documentation Assistant.

We are looking for a candidate with a good general education (GCSEs or equivalent); an understanding of the practical handling requirements for museum collections; good manual dexterity; and a demonstrable interest in aspects of the Society’s collections.
Relevant research areas: 18th Century, 19th Century
