Curatorial Research Associate, Drawings and Prints (Full-time, Temporary)
A full-time, temporary position for a Curatorial Research Associate is available to begin September 2019.The incumbent will work as a member of a cross-institutional team on the development of a strategic plan for the Museum’s renowned collection of American art that is being supported by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation. The position is for 2 1/2 years, eligible for health insurance and paid time off.
Reporting to both the Steven and Ann Ames Curator of Drawings and Prints and the Director of the Collection, the incumbent will play a key role in research initiatives and support the team on the organization and administration of all phases of the project, including research toward future collection displays. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong interest in working with museum collections.
Responsibilities
Scholarly research on artists; assisting in the supervision of a Curatorial Research Assistant; the coordination of timelines and project milestones; management of checklists, databases, and files; scheduling and preparing materials and presentations for meetings; corresponding with external contacts and working closely with Research Resources, Collections Management, and Conservation, among other Museum departments; tracking budgets; and providing daily administrative support.
Job Requirements
B.A. in art history (M.A. a plus); 3+ years museum/gallery experience, with collection-related experience preferred; working knowledge of 20th- and 21st-century art history with a focus in 20th-century American art; excellent writing skills; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; initiative and collaborative spirit; command of TMS and Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
