Curatorial Assistant, Prints and Drawings

To provide collection care and administrative support to the Department of Prints and Drawings and European paintings. Responsible for pulling and preparing artworks for study room visits, monitoring the study room, supporting curatorial activity and assisting with administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:
Assist with art handling and movement for classes, research and museum events. Monitor the print study room while artwork is on view for classes or general visits.
Maintain the print study room calendar, schedule appointments and communicates appointment procedure and study room protocol to the public.
Maintain study room visitor log and compile visitation data. Help develop checklist for class visits.
Teach visitors about techniques and media with didactic materials.
Assist in maintaining proper housing of the collection. Enter data into collection management database. Assist in cataloguing and researching new acquisitions.
Help develop and present Pop-Up Exhibitions in the study room. Edit and write wall labels and contribute to special projects.
Assist with other administrative tasks as need, including maintaining office supplies, filling out purchase orders and monitoring physical climate and cleanliness of storage areas.
May assist in supervising undergraduate interns.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Art History.
Paper handling expertise.
Strong interest in printmaking techniques.
Museum experience.
Familiarity with museum collection databases.
Excellent writing skills.
Works well independently and collaboratively.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Art History.
More than two years of museum experience.
