Lower East Side Printshop, established in 1968, is looking for a Master Printer.
About the Position:
The Printer collaborates with emerging and mid-career artists on several Printshop-published projects per year, and many contracted projects daily. The Printer collaborates with artists by providing artistic advice, ideas, and guidance, researching and acquiring materials, and by fully executing/producing the projects and archiving the artwork. The projects, while often the first printmaking experiences for the artists, are of high artistic merit and professional quality.
The Printer supervises other studio activities, and manages studio equipment and supplies. The Printer trains and supervises studio interns and volunteers. He/She also participates in all other Printshop activities, such as exhibitions, fairs, archive collection, etc. The Printer reports directly to Executive Director and works closely with other staff. He/She interacts with class instructors, resident artists, Board of Directors, and the outside community such as curators, dealers, collectors, and the general public.
Qualifications:
- Experienced and proficient in digital, screenprinting, intaglio, and combined techniques;
- Has at least 5 years of experience in independent collaborations with individual artists;
- Well organized, independent, good at multi-tasking, team player;
- Understanding of,and sensitive to, artists’ needs, patient and flexible;
- Helpful computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, File Maker Pro, Internet research.
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week
Starting salary: $60,000 + benefits
