Since 2014, the IFPDA Foundation has been providing funding for summer curatorial internships in museum print collections and are now accepting applications online from qualified institutions for Summer 2018.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This important Foundation initiative aims to empower print curators to cultivate the next generation of scholars, curators, dealers, and specialists in the field of fine prints by supporting internships that can provide early career exposure to prints. Host institutions are awarded funding based on their ability to provide an intern with object-based experience in the collection under the guidance of one or more experienced print specialists. Each host institution is responsible for setting up and implementing its own internship, including the selection and supervision of the intern.

CURRENT Books is a CURRENT Art Fair special event featuring independent artists’ book makers, zine makers, and small independent publishers of artist monographs and other book-based art objects. The inaugural art book fair will be held March 31, 2017 in the special event space at Studio Two Three in Richmond, Virginia.

Who is eligible to apply? - Artists’ book makers, zine makers, and independent publishers of art books and artist monographs are eligible to apply. All applicants must be based in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, or North Carolina. Individual artists may form collectives to split a table or half table, however table fees must be payed in a single payment.

The Dayton Society of Artists and the Dayton Printmakers Cooperative are pleased to present the 13th Annual Juried Print Show, March 2 – April 21, 2018. The exhibition will be held at the Dayton Society of Artists’ gallery on 48 High Street in the historic St. Anne’s Hill neighborhood. The Dayton Society of Artists is one of the oldest arts organizations in Dayton founded in 1938. The Print Show is a Dayton tradition, celebrating the art of printmaking and the community of printmakers. This year the exhibition is open to those who live and/ or work in the state of Ohio.

JUROR: This exhibition will be juried by Melissa Haviland, printmaker and Professor of Art at Ohio University School of Art & Design. Awards will be presented for Best in Show, Second and Third place totaling at $700.

SALES
DSA takes ZERO commission on artwork(s) sold. All proceeds from sold work go directly to the Artist(s). As a non-profit 501 C 3 we do ask artists to consider making a donation from sales to support future programming.

LIABILITY
The DSA does not insure work in transit to or from the gallery. Artists retain responsibility for insuring the work during shipping and travel. The DSA has Fine Art Coverage Insurance. Any insurance claims must be accompanied by documentation of past sales and or professional 3rd party appraisals.

CONDITIONS & RULES
Entries accepted for exhibition must have a professional appearance. The DSA uses a rod and hook hanging system due to the plaster and lath walls. Work does NOT have to be framed but must be wired on the back if it is to be installed on the wall. If work is lightweight, then 3M Velcro tape can be used for installation. Artists must provide their own equipment for artwork that has special requirements, such as video projectors or TVs for sound art and video art et etc.

SHIPPING & OR DELIVERY OF WORK
Artists shipping their work: All works must be shipped in reusable containers with a return-shipping label. All accepted works must be available for the entire duration of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for their own shipping costs to AND from the gallery.

The Monotype Guild of New England announces the 5th National Monotype/Monoprint Exhibition at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA which will run from May 6 to September 2, 2018.

Entry is open to all U.S. artists working in the monotype/monoprint medium. Submissions must be original, one-of-a-kind prints created in the last five years.

Prizes of $1800 and several materials awards will be chosen by juror Judith K. Brodsky.

Judith K. Brodsky, board chair, New York Foundation for the Arts, is Distinguished Professor Emerita, Department of Visual Arts, Rutgers University; founder, Rutgers Center for Innovative Print and Paper renamed the Brodsky Center in her honor; founder, Rutgers Center for Women in the Arts and Humanities and The Feminist Art Project, a national program to promote recognition of women artists; organizer and curator of The Fertile Crescent: Gender, Art, and Society (2012); founder and chair of the international city-wide print festival, Philagrafika (2010); past national president of ArtTable, the College Art Association, and the Women’s Caucus for Art; former dean, associate provost, and chair, art department, Rutgers campus at Newark.

The Alabama Women’s Caucus for Art invites woman identified women artists from throughout the US to submit works on (or made of) paper for a juried exhibition. The exhibition will be held at the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s Salmon Gallery, February 4- March 4, 2018. Cash prizes will be awarded and ALWCA will produce a full color catalog.

JUROR: Dr. Abigail Yoder is a research assistant at the Saint Louis Art Museum, focusing on modern and contemporary art and works on paper. She earned her PhD from the University of Iowa and specializes in late nineteenth-century French art.

MFA (Maryland Federation of Art) invites all artists residing in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico to enter its 39th annual Art on Paper competition. Any original 2-D or 3-D work created on or of paper, including collage, artist book, origami, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and more, will be considered. Works selected will be on exhibit in the MFA Circle Gallery, 18 State Circle, Annapolis, Maryland from March 29 - April 28. This exhibition will be juried by Mary Lee Corlett, Curatorial Assistant of American and Modern Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery in Washington DC.

Graduate Curatorial Internships at the National Gallery of Art provide in-depth training for advanced PhD students and recent PhD recipients interested in gaining curatorial experience in a museum setting. Interns work with curators on permanent collection and exhibition projects and attend a weekly seminar that introduces the staff, departments, programs, and functions of the Gallery. The duties and responsibilities are comparable to those of curatorial assistants.

Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to doctoral students who are in the advanced stage of their dissertations and to recent PhD recipients (dissertations must have been filed no earlier than September 2016). Neither previous museum experience nor a stated goal of a museum career is required. Applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. This is an international program.

Terms
Graduate Curatorial Interns are in residence at the Gallery from September 10, 2018, to May 10, 2019, and work full time. Interns receive a stipend of approximately $30,000 that is subject to all applicable taxes. Interns, using an authorized public transportation method, will receive an employer-provided fare subsidy to apply toward their monthly transit costs.

Curatorial: Department of Old Master Prints and Drawings ------------------------------------------------------------------------

The intern will assist and gain experience in the many and varied curatorial aspects associated with a large and very active collection of European prints and drawings dating from 1500 through the early twentieth century. The intern will not only assist in the pulling and returning of works of art for visitors (supervising them when necessary), but also will initiate public talks and teach occasional classes in an area of interest. The intern will assist with creating individual records on TMS, the Gallery’s content management system, for old master prints and drawings in albums and portfolios. The intern will be assigned a special project to produce a web feature and/or small exhibition featuring the Gallery’s Hoefnagel 'Four Elements' albums.

A demonstrated interest in the history of prints and drawings, an understanding of their techniques, and a good reading knowledge of a European language, preferably German, French, or Dutch, are required; a reading knowledge of a second European language is desirable. Current advanced graduate students in art history or 2018 graduates of such programs are invited to apply.

Gormley Gallery is now accepting entries for the 29th National Drawing and Print Competitive Exhibition. This year’s juror is Kim Domanski, Public Art Coordinator for Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts. For a fee of $36 artists may submit up to 3 drawings or prints. A minimum of $1,500 will be available in purchase prize awards.

The Pierre Daura Curator of European Art oversees a broad collection of European art from the fifteenth to the twenty-first century. This position comes with generous travel funds for conducting research and participating in conferences/symposia. The Pierre Daura Curator of European Art reports to the director of the museum. He/she works closely with other curators, the curator of education, the director of communications, the registrars, the preparators, and occasionally with outside curators on exhibition- and collection-related matters.

Qualifications: The position requires substantial and proven knowledge of European art with a focus on modern art, curatorial experience (preferably five years in a museum setting), scholarly writing, connoisseurship, and knowledge of issues regarding conservation. A doctorate in the history of art or a closely related field is required; publications and a demonstrated interest in academics are expected. Fluency in French or Spanish required. Reading knowledge of both languages required. Catalan may be substituted for Spanish.

Primary duties: The Pierre Daura Curator of European Art has day-to-day and long-range planning responsibilities for the department in regard to budgets, organizing exhibitions, writing for publications, and making acquisitions. He/she is responsible for identifying, securing, and performing as in-house curator for significant exhibitions on loan from other institutions. He/she works with the curator of education to make exhibitions more accessible to the general public, with docents in training for tours, and with the faculty, staff, and students of the university in viewing and/or working with the collection. The Pierre Daura Curator of European Art also trains and oversees student interns.

The curator develops the collection by recommending and soliciting acquisitions, conducting research, writing publications, and maintaining donor relations. Donor relations are an important aspect of the curator’s job, and he/she is expected to assist the director in identifying and cultivating prospects for future gifts of works of art to the museum’s permanent collection, as well as working with the museum’s Board of Advisors. In conjunction with the director and the development officer, the curator will assist with the solicitation of funds for the purchase of art.

A wide range of professional activities is expected, including lecturing, teaching, participation in scholarly symposia, and contributing to scholarly publications. Serving on museum committees is also expected, as is active participation in professional organizations and committees.

The collection: The collection of European art at the Georgia Museum of Art consists of the Samuel H. Kress Study Collection of Italian Renaissance Paintings; a major collection of prints, drawings, and watercolors by artists ranging from the fifteenth to the twentieth century, such as Albrecht Dürer, Hendrick Goltzius, Francesco Parmigianino, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, and Max Beckmann and includes Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes’s Disasters of War and one of only three complete sets of L’Estampe originale; and a select group of sculpture by such artists as Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, and Henri Matisse, as well as animalier bronzes. The museum’s galleries display both European and American decorative arts from the permanent collection. Eleven galleries display temporary exhibitions, which may or may not include works from the collection.
