Assistant Professor, Printmaking, Tenure Track

The Department of Art and Design at East Tennessee State University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Printmaking to teach all levels of undergraduate and graduate courses in Printmaking, and related courses, beginning Fall 2018.

Responsibilities will involve teaching a full load of three undergraduate courses each semester, along with graduate level and independent study courses, in traditional and contemporary forms. Other responsibilities include: supervision and management of printmaking facilities including serigraphy studio, lithographic presses, intaglio presses, development of the Printmaking program and a vision for its future in the 21st century, instructional related activities within the area, supervision of graduate assistants, and service to the department, the university, the profession, and the community.

The Department of Art and Design at East Tennessee State University is NASAD Accredited since 1983.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to teach plate processing, intaglio, relief, serigraphy, lithography, & drawing, as well as emerging printmaking techniques. Candidate's experience must include technical expertise in all aspects of printmaking studio operation including maintenance of equipment and tools.

Required Qualifications
MFA in printmaking with two years of college/university studio art teaching experience. Exhibition record at a regional/national level. Ability to teach intaglio, relief, screen, litho, and drawing at undergraduate and graduate levels. Evidence of an engaged and well-versed understanding of both innovative and traditional printmaking practices.

Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years experience teaching in traditional and contemporary printmaking in a university setting beyond graduate school. Active and excellent exhibition record at a regional/national level. A thorough working knowledge of and an appreciation for both analogic and emerging printmaking practices, reflected in student work, as well as experience overseeing an active printmaking studio. Ability and experience teaching courses related to discipline such as foundations, capstone, thesis, art appreciation, and more. Experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration. Experience with web-based and digital tools and resources.
