Assistant Professor, Printmaking

The Studio Arts Program within the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at The George Washington University invites applications for a full-time, renewable contract (3-year appointments), Assistant Professor of Printmaking. The appointment begins as early as August 1, 2019

The successful candidate will teach within the foundations, printmaking, and a minimum of one other studio area of the Corcoran and play a leading role in developing and implementing the corresponding curriculum. Together with key faculty, the successful candidate for this position will further develop and implement new course content and represent the program to internal and external constituents.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities --------
Teaching courses in printmaking and other media, including foundations, to be determined in consultation with the Director of the Corcoran
Demonstrate commitment to a creative practice that connects printmaking to contemporary art and culture
Developing a creative research agenda consistent with Corcoran and CCAS criteria, incorporating research, teaching and service
Curriculum and program development and assessment in collaboration with fellow faculty
University and departmental service
Student advising and community service/engagement
Developing collaborations and/or partnerships with faculty across the Corcoran and the broader GWU community, and finally, initiating strategic partnerships with industry, government, and/or diverse community organizations

Minimum Qualifications -----------
An MFA in Printmaking or related discipline
Minimum two years successful university-level teaching experience beyond the teaching assistantship
A nationally established and active professional art practice
Knowledge of contemporary issues and practices in printmaking and contemporary art
Broad-based expertise in modern and contemporary issues in art
Knowledge of current technologies relative to printmaking, instruction, and administrative tasks
Excellent writing and communication skills
