Assistant Curator

The Cleveland Museum of Art seeks a highly motivated individual to join the curatorial team. The successful candidate for this Assistant Curatorship will serve a two-year term, renewable. Candidates who specialize in any collection area represented in the Cleveland Museum of Art’s encyclopedic collection, ranging from ancient through contemporary art, are encouraged to apply.

The museum is seeking candidates who are eager to embark upon a curatorial career and to be mentored by a Curator or Curatorial Department Chair. Key responsibilities will include the presentation and interpretation of the permanent collection; research and publication of the collection; organizing and hosting special exhibitions, speaking with the general public and museum groups about the collection and special exhibitions, and proposing acquisitions. Candidates who have demonstrated experience in participating in collaborative projects and delivering results as a team are preferred. The ideal candidate will be sensitive to the enhanced public role of museums today and will strive to communicate with scholarly and general audiences.

An M.A. in Art History or a related field is required. The annual salary is $50-55K.
