ARTIST OPPORTUNITY  – LARGE SCALE PURCHASE INITATIVE (PROSPECTUS #273)

The Art in Public Places Program (AIPP) of New Mexico Arts invites artists working in, and galleries located in, the Southwest (AZ, UT, CO, OK, TX, and NM) to submit artwork available for purchase.

Since its inception nearly 25 years ago, the program has placed more than 2,500 works of art in all of New Mexico’s 33 counties.  Our goal is to reflect the diversity of the arts in New Mexico, the Southwest, and the nation while building a dynamic public art collection for the State of New Mexico.

Artwork will be purchased for publicly accessible buildings throughout the State of New Mexico. The facilities encompass a broad range of use including, but not limited to: schools, libraries, senior/community centers, courthouses, government buildings/facilities, fire stations, police stations, public parks, museums, cultural centers, etc. Participating sites will have a total budget equal to 1% of recent capital outlay for new construction or major renovation projects.

Artworks must be submitted with an “all-inclusive” price (artwork, identification plaque, delivery, and secure/permanent installation on site, including any concrete pad required). A total budget of $200,000 is available to purchase artworks, inclusive of all associated costs.

The deadline for artists to apply is Friday, September 29, 2023 at 4pm (MT). To learn more and to apply, please visit: https://www.nmarts.org/current-opportunities/
