Air, Water and Earth

The theme of the exhibition reflects the concerns for our planet expressed through the vital elements of life; air, water and earth, during a time of great challenge and change for our planet.

Open to all members of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society in good standing with up to date membership for 2018!

Exhibition Dates: April 19 - June 10, 2018

Opening Reception: Sunday, April 22nd, 3:00 to 6:00PM
 EARTH DAY EVENTS: Sunday, April 22nd, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

The Los Angeles Printmaking Society: 

Since it’s founding in 1963, the Los Angeles Printmaking Society has grown into a national artist membership organization that is artist-run and devoted to presenting state of the art printmaking exhibitions for the public.

The Juror: Kim Abeles 

Kim Abeles is a prominent interdisciplinary artist and activist whose art focuses on issues of social justice, the environment and feminism. Her work has been exhibited in 22 countries and she has received a number of significant awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2013. 
 


The Award:

The Los Angeles Printmaking Society is pleased to announce a Juror’s Award of $500 and an Honorable Mention of $125, will be awarded.

The Venue: The Muckenthaler Cultural Center: 

The Muckenthaler Cultural Center is housed in an historic 1924 villa on eight acres of parkland in the City of Fullerton, California. Each year the Muckenthaler hosts five exhibitions and over fifty performances, festivals, and special events in art galleries, the gardens, or on an amphitheater stage.

This CALL is open to all members of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society in good standing with up to date 2018 membership .

We hope to challenge our membership to explore this theme and take this as an opportunity to push the limits of printmaking and their own artistic practice. This exhibition will include the best in both traditional and experimental techniques in contemporary printmaking, including works on paper, installation, work made in collaboration with other artists and other multi-media approaches to printmaking. As long as a printmaking technique is the primary process used to create the work for jury.

Examples of possible eligible entries will be posted on www.LAprintmaking.com and on the LAprintmaking Facebook Group Page.


We ask that artists proposing installations or collaborative projects provide detailed instructions or be on hand to help with the installation. Accepted entries that differ from the submitted image or are unfit for display when delivered, may be excluded. 


Accepted Media:

Original works in all traditional processes including monotypes are acceptable. 
 Traditional photography, offset reproductions or reproductions of art originally produced in another medium will NOT be considered. Prints that are strictly digital will NOT be considered. Work that incorporates other media must have a printmaking technique dominant. Examples will be posted on www.LAPrintmaking.com or by request from Studiosherwood@sbcglobal.net.

Size:
No size limits, however size of all accepted work will impact amount or work being shown in exhibition. Work that does not need a wall is also encouraged. 


This Entry is FREE for all LA Printmaking Members!

Limit of 3 Artworks. 3D art work may include extra images, on request.
Artwork that is a collaboration may be submitted only once and at least one artist must be a current LA Printmaking member.
