Black Women of Print Speaker Series: Leslie Diuguid of Do-Good Press (Virtual Event)
Manhattan Graphics Center is delighted to announce a series of seven online webinars with the members of Black Women of Print, a platform for independent, advanced, and master-skill level Black Women printmakers founded in 2018 by Tanekeya Word. These monthly talks will begin in August of 2020 and conclude in March of 2021, and are free and open to the public. Over the coming months, MGC will host a series of 7 online talks from the founding members of Black Women of Print. Our first guest is Leslie Diuguid: artist, master printer, chromist, and founder of Du-Good Press. Established in 2017 in Brooklyn, Du-Good Press provides fine art printing services to artists, galleries, and museums. Diuguid also collaborates with Erin Lynn Welsh under the name Du-Good in Unity to publish work by selected women artists that promote equality; proceeds go to a charity of the artist's choice. Before establishing her own business, Diuguid earned her BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute and worked in print shops in Kansas City and NYC. Diuguid will share images and tales from her private and pro-bono practices, as well as her journey to become a master printmaker and press owner.
This project is made possible with funds from the NYSCA Electronic Media/Film in Partnership with Wave Farm: Media Arts Assistance Fund, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
