Curator (Historic Fine Art), Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester UK

A curator to develop exhibitions, support research and develop research opportunities and care for the remarkable collection of historic fine art at the Whitworth.

The Whitworth, part of the University of Manchester, is an art institute and park made collectively by the activity of all its users, including those working and volunteering there. It was made for people of all social classes and cultures to come and rub shoulders together and imagine the world anew. By working locally on issues that are relevant to the people around us, it connects internationally, with communities of interest across borders.

We are looking for a dynamic, open-minded curator with an interest in historic fine art and a commitment to bringing it to bear on the experience of the world today. The Curator (Historic Fine Art) will develop collaborative work as part of a holistic programme across teams, bringing new thinking to the collections and the Whitworth’s programme.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the black and minority ethnic (BME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area. All appointments will be made on merit.
