Chasses sauvages. Jan van der Straet (1523-1605)

This exhibition presents 30 engravings from the museum's collection. They belong to the suite "Les Venationes" (1st edition: 1578). From 1553 to 1571, Jan Van der Straet worked for Cosimo I de' Medici and for his tapestry workshop. There, he created a series of scenes of hunting intended to decorate the Poggio a Caiano villa in Tuscany. The suite of prints "Les Venationes" takes up the tapestry design on the topic of hunting, fishing and animal fighting.
