2nd Annual Four Rivers Print Biennial

Southern Illinois Printworks, a student organization from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, invites entries for the 2nd Four Rivers Print Biennial, a national juried exhibition. We are thrilled to announce 2018’s juror, Lisa Bulawsky. Bulawsky is a Professor, Printmaking Area Coordinator, and the Director of Island Press in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. This call is open to all forms of printmaking, including book arts, digital, experimental, and sculptural approaches. Southern Illinois is located in the heart of the largest watershed in the contiguous United States. Bordered by the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, and Wabash rivers, it is also surrounded by regions rich with the traditions of fine art printmaking. Much like the convergence of waterways, the Four Rivers Print Biennial acts as the confluence of contemporary prints by artists from across the country. Eligibility & Fee:
Artists must reside within the United States. Works must measure no more than 60” in any direction, be completed within the last three years, and not previously shown in the biennial. Prints should be framed or otherwise ready for professional presentation. Framed works must use Plexiglas, NO GLASS. If your work requires a pedestal please indicate that on your submission list. Specialty hardware or accessories must be provided by the artist. Exhibitors are responsible for shipping costs; pre-paid return-shipping labels must be sent along with accepted work. Submission Guidelines:
Images: All images should accurately reflect the work submitted and be in JPEG format, 72 pixels per inch resolution with maximum dimensions of 1000 pixels. File names should include your name and the title of the artwork in the following format: “Lastname_Firstname_Title.jpg”.

Send submissions to: fourriversprintbiennial@gmail.com. Your message should include your PayPal Transaction ID number from your receipt and a list of the works you are submitting in a Word document or PDF. The list of works should use the following format: title, medium, size (height x width x depth), date, and special requirements for installation.

Awards & Sales:
Cash and printmaking vendor awards will be selected by the juror. All accepted works will be included in an e-catalog. Carbondale Community Arts will take a 30% commission on works sold during the exhibition. A reception including an award presentation and gallery talk by Lisa Bulawsky will be held on a date to be announced later.

Works received by: February 6, 2018
Exhibition dates: February 9 through March 23, 2018.
