The American Historical Print Collectors Society (AHPCS) offers financial support to publications on topics relating to historical prints produced in or about North America one hundred or more years ago. Over the past forty-plus years, AHPCS has supported the publication of hundreds of articles, catalogs, and monographs on a wide variety of 18th- and 19th-century printmakers, printing methods, publishers, and artists.

Applications are accepted semi-annually with deadlines of January 1st and July 1st.

Position Summary The Frick Collection is pleased to announce the availability of a two-year predoctoral fellowship for an outstanding doctoral candidate who wishes to pursue a curatorial career in an art museum. The fellowship offers invaluable curatorial training and provides the scholarly and financial resources required for completing the doctoral dissertation. Internationally renowned for its exceptional collection of western European art from the early Renaissance through the end of the nineteenth century, The Frick Collection—complemented by the equally significant resources of the Frick Art Reference Library—offers a unique opportunity for object-based research. The fellowship is best suited to a student working on a dissertation that pertains to one of the major strengths of the collection and library. The Anne L. Poulet Curatorial Fellow will have an opportunity to work with curatorial and educational staff on research for permanent collection displays and special exhibitions. Other curatorial training responsibilities include participation in the daily administrative routines of a small museum. The Fellow will have a place of study, access to the collections and library, as well as introductions to New York City museums and libraries. Frick curators and conservation staff will be available for consultation on the dissertation. The Fellow will divide his or her time between the completion of the dissertation and activities in the Curatorial Department. The Fellow is considered a full-time temporary exempt employee for the duration of the two-year fellowship. The term is expected to begin in September 2023 and conclude in August 2025.

The Menil Drawing Institute in Houston, Texas offers a residential fellowship program as a part of its mission to become a major research center on modern and contemporary drawing. The program fosters the highest level of scholarship and makes possible rich, interdisciplinary, object-based conversations on the drawing medium’s history, theory, criticism, and practice.

Fellows receive a stipend to cover living and other expenses incurred during the fellowship, and they are housed in a fully furnished apartment within a recently refurbished historic bungalow on the Menil campus. They are also assigned a workspace at the Drawing Institute to use for the duration of the fellowship and have access to the collections and archives, the staff and library at the Menil, as well as to local institutional libraries.

The Drawing Institute will award one nine-month Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to a scholar in the first decade of their career following the completion of the Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree. The Postdoctoral Fellowship supports an independent research project, ideally working toward a clearly defined publication relating to some aspect of the history, theory, collecting, function or interpretation of drawings.

Requirements
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow is expected to spend their fellowship period in residence at the Morgan Library & Museum. The majority of the Fellow’s time will be spent on the research project for which the fellowship is awarded, but the Fellow is expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the Morgan and to attend Drawing Institute programs during their tenure. The Fellow may be asked to assist in the planning and implementation of Drawing Institute programs.

The Fellow will present a progress report on their research at the conclusion of the fellowship.

Stipend
$42,750 for 9 months, generally expected to run between September/October 2023 - May/June 2024, plus a $1500 travel allowance intended to support or subsidize a short research trip. If a fellowship is sought for a specific time (e.g. around a professor’s semester-long sabbatical), that should be clearly indicated in the application.

Meadows Museum fellowships offer pre- and post-doctoral students an intensive scholarly and professional experience in curatorial work with an unparalleled combination of resources and direct access to the museum’s staff and collection. One of the most wide-ranging collections of Spanish art in the world, the Meadows Museum’s collection spans 12 centuries of Spanish art — from the medieval to the contemporary — and is constantly growing.

The Huntington Library will begin accepting Research Fellowship Applications for the 23-24 fellowship year for Long-Term Fellowships, Short-Term Fellowships, and Travel Grants on August 31, 2022 until 11:59pm PST on November 15, 2022.

The Huntington offers 14 Long-Term Fellowships for nine to 12 months in residence, each with a stipend of $50,000. Although nine of these are open to scholars working on projects in any area where The Huntington’s collections are strong, there are specific awards for the study of Octavia E. Butler (The Butler Fellowship), maritime history (The Kemble Fellowship), the history of medicine (The Molina Fellowship), and the history of science (The Dibner Fellowships). Three awards (The Thom Fellowships) are reserved for recent post-doctoral scholars.

Approximately 140 Short-Term Fellowships are available for one to five months in residence and carry monthly stipends of $3,500. They are open to scholars in any field where The Huntington’s collections are strong.

Recipients of all fellowships are expected to be in continuous residence at The Huntington and to participate in, and make a contribution to, its intellectual life.

Six Travel Grants for Study Abroad are available in any of the fields in which The Huntington’s own collections are strong and where the research will be carried out in libraries or archives outside of the United States or Canada, especially those in the UK, continental Europe, or Latin America.

Artists of any nationality may participate.
2. Works shall be unpublished.
3. The subject is free, and the technique is Woodcut. All techniques set out in the FISAE (International
Federation of Ex - libris Societies) regulations concerning Woodcut are admitted (abbreviated X).
4. The award has three categories:

- Children's engraving award (up to 12 years old)
- Young artists’ engraving award (aged 13 to 17)
- Adults’ engraving award

5. The minimal measurements of the woodblock are 7 x 8 cm, the maximum is 18 x 13 cm; the maximum
measurements of the printing paper are 38 x 28 cm.
6. Each participant may present 1 unframed original work from a maximum of 5 different original works
that will not be returned, in order to enlarge the Municipal Archives collection and will be available for
consultation of interested.
7. The works must be presented with the title on the back and accompanied by the fact sheet for each
work and a brief CV of the author in a sealed envelope.
8. The works must be sent to the Arxiu Municipal de Torredembarra (Municipal Archives of Torredembarra)
at Plaça del Castell, 8, Torredembarra 43700 (Catalonia-Spain), between Monday and Friday from 08.30
to 14.30, tel. (0034) 977640025. The delivery and collection of the artist's works is the responsibility of
the artist. The organisation will accept no complaints regarding possible damage or losses.
9. The admission period for original works ends on 14 October 2022. As for shipping, count as a valid date,
which will take the seal stamped by the origin’s post office.
10. A single award is established for each category, which may be declared void.
- Children's and Young’s category: 200€ engraving material and a certificate.
- Adult category: 1500 Euros and a certificate
The monetary award is conceived as a monetary reward for the rights of acquisition of the work and
the edition of 33 signed copies, numbered 1/33 to 33/33, which must be handed it as a previous
requirement before getting the prize. The amount is the gross amount received by the winner.
11. The Jury shall be with the following people: Ms. Mercè ALONSO, Mr. Marià CASAS, Mr. Francesc FONTBONA,
and MR. Antoni GELONCH.
12. The jury’s decisions are final.
13. The jury’s decision shall be notified to the participants in autumn 2022 and the award ceremony will be
held in the course of an event specified in time to give the verdict.
14. The award winning work will remain property of the Town of Torredembarra, kept in the Municipal
Archives, and it will possess all legal rights of publishing, it being understood that the artist renounces
property of the work and any right to complaint.
15. The winning piece shall be distributed to centres specializing in engravings so they can exhibit them to
the public.
16. The artists chosen authorise the citation of their names, as well as the possible photographic
reproduction of their works in brochures, books, posters, media and activity programmes of the
organisation,
17. The exhibition of the works selected will take place in Torredembarra.
18. The participants requesting this will receive a certificate of participation in the award and in the
exhibition.
19. . The participant authorizes his personal data to be treated by the City Council of Torredembarra in order
to manage his participation in this award, as well as the dissemination of the names and images of the
authors and rewarded works.
